Are your kids watching too much TV? I just read a lengthy article concerning the amount of time children watch TV , play video, games and social network. The article called for government to provide control ad for parents to invest in technology that limits a child’s exposure.
I think it is time to stop asking others to monitor and restrict our children. That is our job!
Here is a simple plan to get back control.
1. Do not have a TV in the child’s bedroom. I do not care how old they are.
2. Have one TV in the house in a central meeting place where you can keep an eye on what they are watching. (if you want a TV in your bedroom , fine ,but the kids can’t be in there watching TV, with or without you.
3. Set TV hours for evening only……..tape the shows you want and skip commercials.
Maxof 2 to 3 hours per night. Kids get to chose one show a night. If you have a lot of kids they take turns.
4. A child 2 and under does not watch TV.
5. Same thing goes for video games. Limit time and approve game.
6. If the kids cheat and you find out take one night of TV away for everyone.
7. Be consistent , follow-through, and in four to six weeks you will see the difference.
8. If you have a meltdown and need the TV to entertain the kids when you recover. Do it! Just don’t make a habit of it. AS your new TV plan takes place you will find the kids will learn to find other things to do and will bug you less often.
Now you have taken back control of the media in your house without extra controls from outside sources.

I was at a seminar once (can’t remember what it was about), and invited one of my employees to attend it with me. There were maybe 100 or so people in the room, and at the end the hosts went into the typical Q&A session. As I raised my hand to ask a question, my associate looked at me with deer-in-the-headlights eyes and asked, incredulously, ‘Are you really going to ask a question?!?’ To her it was simply inconceivable to do something like that. There is an entire block of readers that will NEVER consider leaving a comment, it just not part of their personality style.
For moi Liz, I have no self-consciousness issues in commenting whenever/where ever. Firstly, the post has to interest me enough for me to have a say – negative/positive – doesn’t matter.

I do think you are right. We are all emotional about something and all have opinions.
But I also think that people are looking for things that make them think!
That is what I am after…….My concern is not right or wrong, good or bad, but rather the reader weigh the information based on their perceptions, that will lead to growth and maybe change.
Take a look at your world and write what you see……..and allow others to grow
